Consulting Company Woes

  1. Consultants don't care about your business.
  2. Consultants rarely deliver the end product you actually wanted.
  3. Consulting/staffing companies do not deliver consultants of the quality you pay dearly for.
  4. Consultants build unnecessary products.
  5. Training doesn't work.

Consultants don't care about your business

We really do care! If your business succeeds, then our business succeeds, and you will refer us to others you know and use us for more projects. If we notice something about your business or product that we don't understand or agree with, we will ask questions. We won't sit idly by consuming your hard earned money on a project we know will not succeed. We often sound like a four year old kid: "Why? Why? Why?"

Consultants rarely deliver the end product you actually wanted

Have you ever had a vision for a project, conveyed it to a consultant, and then received something completely different, or missing key pieces of functionality? We aim to please. If you are not satisfied with the result of our work, we will fix it. That's right, a guarantee, from a consultant. We take pride in our product (ourselves), and always do our best work. Read more about our guarantee.

Consulting/staffing companies do not deliver consultants of the quality you pay dearly for

Imagine this: You are looking for an outside consultant to develop a product. You talk to Joe Blow account manager at Giant Recruiting Company because the web site says they have the best. The consultants there even take aptitude tests, and they are all above the 95th percentile. They send you a candidate – it would be stupid of them to send more than one because they have pre screened everyone and know the best fit for your project. You interview the candidate. They seem like a good fit – probably because they know how to say all the right things and you don't really know what to expect in a technical interview. You sign a contract at $100/hour. Little did you know, the consultant is only making $45/hour and is not very good (even though he has 10 years of experience). He works on your project for 6 months, and you get a steaming pile of… code. You just spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, for nothing.

Yes, we've watched this happen, and it makes us sick. That's why we offer a guarantee.

Consultants build unnecessary products

When you lay out your vision to a typical consultant he starts thinking of all the ways he can make money. There is a good chance he's thinking about building features that could easily be purchased off the shelf. Have you ever paid someone to build you an ecommerce shopping cart system, or maybe a content management system? How about a custom web site from scratch? No matter how unique your need, there is a good chance a large portion of the functionality is already available in a shrink wrapped product. If we ever run into a situation like this we will let you know and give you clear options. See problem #1: Consultants don't care about your business.

Training doesn't work

Have you ever sent your development team to a day, or maybe even a week, of training classes? Most likely they didn't learn much of anything. Our training services are on site at your business with custom curriculum developed to meet your needs. We'll pick a small project to build that solves one of your current business problems, and use it to train your development team. By the end of training they will have completed a project and learned the desired skills.
